Robotics, Vision & Control (all versions)

The book was first published in 2011, with revised editions published in 2017 and 2022. The book has become a family.

The book is widely used for teaching around the world, and is popular among contemporary robotics and computer vision books.

Third editions (Python or MATLAB)

This edition comes in two versions, each a single volume covering Robotics, Vision & Control like the 2011 and 2017 editions.  It fixes some errors, improves mathematical notation, and clarifies the narrative throughout (Chapters 2 and 7 have been extensively rewritten). This edition also includes new topics such as graph-based path planning, Dubins and Reeds-Shepp paths, branched robots, URDF models, collision checking, task-space control, deep learning for object detection and semantic segmentation, fiducial markers, and point clouds.

Python version (2023)

The code examples and supporting Toolboxes are written in Python.  This is the fully open-source version.

MATLAB version (2023)

The code examples and supporting Toolboxes are written in MATLAB, and rely on licensed MathWorks® products, not the open-source Toolboxes used for the earlier editions of this book.

Second editions (MATLAB + open-source toolboxes)

These books require the open source toolboxes: RTB10.x and MVTB4.x.

Two-volume (split volumes) version (2021)

The content of the 2017 edition in two slimmer volumes.  Each volume includes Chapter 1 and 2 of the full volume (fundamentals), and appropriate subsets of the chapters and appendices.

Single-volume version (2017)

Robotics Vsion and Control

The book has been extensively revised throughout and includes new figures, more consistent notation and new content including: Lie groups, matrix exponentials and twists; inertial navigation; differential drive robots; lattice planners; pose-graph SLAM and map making; restructured material on arm-robot kinematics and dynamics; series-elastic actuators and operational-space control; Lab color spaces; light field cameras; structured light, bundle adjustment and visual odometry; and photometric visual servoing.

First edition (MATLAB + open-source toolboxes)

These books require the open source toolboxes: RTB9.x and MVTB3.x.

First published by Springer 2011 and now available in various formats.  The book had a second printing, with minor revisions, in 2013 (the copyright line on the back of the title page indicates the version).
